While Phish, Gov’t Mule, Holly Bowling, and countless other guests were getting busy in NYC in the days leading up to the New Year, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead played a pair of shows in Brooklyn and then retreated to the Capitol Theater for a two-night run in Port Chester, NY.
JRAD started with a pair of old-school Dead classics, “King Bee” and “The Eleven” before launching into a full-fledged Grateful Dead 3-hour marathon. The two-sets started at 8:45 and ended well past midnight. Tedeschi Trucks Band vocalist, Alecia Chakour sat in with JRAD for the evening.
Some of the surprises of the evening included Joe Russo and Marco Benevento reprising their ‘Duo’ reunion performance from the week before with “Becky” in the middle of Uncle John’s Band and the debut of Wilco’s “Hoo Doo Voo Doo.”
