Dead and Company made it to the east coast after a pair of killer shows in Boulder last weekend. Dead and Company is nearly half way through their summer tour and is on absolute fire.
The Atlanta shows kicks off with a really tight “Scarlet Begonias” that segues into “Shakedown Street” instead of the expected “Fire on the Mountain.” After Shakedown, Mayer brought the heat on a blistering “Dire Wolf.”
The second set revealed a Dead and Company, specifically John Mayer that is becoming much more comfortable and willing to take some risks. Supposedly Dead & Co were slated to play “Viola Lee Blues” but scratched it off the setlist and debuted the Miles Davis classic “Milestones.” What a welcome surprise and addition. Another highlight from the second set was Bobby’s vocals on the beautiful and haunting “Days Between.” Cap the evening off with a gorgeous cover of Dylan’s “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” and you have a near perfect Dead & Co show.
