Watch Trey Anastasio Ring in 2020 with “Rescue Squad” as he is Saved from MSG Stage Malfunction – 12/31/2019 AUD

Phish took the stage for the final time last night at MSG. With the previous night’s show firmly planted as the second highest rated Phish show of all time on Phish.net, the boys would have to pull out all the stops to satiate the Phans at MSG.

The first two rockin’ sets included all the favorites that Phish had yet to play in the previous three nights such as “Fluffhead,” “Maze,” “Wolfman’s Brother,” and “Possum.” Towards the end of the first set, Phish picked up the story from the night before and welcomed flautist Richard Glasgow to join in the fun.

For the third set, Phish revealed their NYE gag—clones of themselves singing and dancing to “Send in the Clowns” (Send in the Clones.) While the clones were dancing, the band was elevated on stages that moved independently of each other. Despite the gag being over, Trey’s platform seemed to have malfunctioned. For the remainder of the third set, Trey was stuck 30+ feet above the stage, but played and jammed with the band as if he was standing next to the them.

While Trey was stuck suspended above the stage and his band members, they jammed through “Sand,” “Drift While You’re Sleeping,” and “You Enjoy Myself.” Phish has performed YEM 615 times during their careers, but never with Trey suspended 30 feet above the stage and away from Fish, Gordon and Page.

MSG got the “Tweezer Reprise” they were promised from the monster “Tweezer” the evening before. After “Tweezer Reprise,” two stagehands used Fishman’s elevated platform to rescue Trey from his platform. During the rescue, Trey improved a song titled “Rescue Squad.” It’s one of those moments you have to see to believe.

Listen to Phish’s Tweezer-fest at the Met in Philly – 12/3/2019 SBD

Phish continued their fall tour at the Met in Philly last night. The gig was announced after the initial tour was planned and was billed as an Sirius XM special event. Aside from being a free show and broadcast exclusively on Phish’s XM radio station, the show was remarkable because it’s the smallest venue that Phish has played in decades.

Approaching showtime, there were tickets being sold in excess of $1,000. To say this was a hot ticket would be an understatement.

Phish opened the show in true Phish-phasion with an acapella rendition of “Hello My Baby.” After the Phish crooned the final notes of the 100+ year old tune, they took their places and settled into their first of many “Tweezers” of the evening. In all, “Tweezer” made an appearance four times before the night was capped off with a “Tweezer Reprise.”

Listen to Phish’s Full 2019 Run at Dicks – 8/30/2019 to 9/1/2019 AUD

One of the most anticipated weekends of the year for Phish fans is Labor Day and their annual three-night run at Dicks Sporting Park in Commerce Park outside of Denver, CO.

This year’s festivities were nearly sidelined by prairie dogs with the plague in the neighboring Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. While the shows went off without a hitch, camping and vending was canceled. The Phish community didn’t let this obscurity become a footnote, rather plague prairie dog memes and merch have flourished. Phish even got in on the action and kicked off night three with “Stray Dog” but changed the lyrics to “Plague Dog.”

Over the three nights, Phish shared rarities, deep jams, classic tunes, new Kasvot Vaxt and Ghosts of the Forest tunes. They made us laugh, cry and everything in between.

Listen to Phish’s Stellar Tour Opener in St. Louis – 6/11/2019 AUD

The long anticipated summer Phish tour kicked off last night at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, MO. While Phish last played in Mexico back in the winter, Trey and the boys have been on the road this spring with various projects including Trey Anastasio Band, Ghosts of the Forest and the Mike Gordon Band.

With all the playing in the “off-season” Phish was raring to go last night. After the Kasvot opening “Cool Amber and Mercury,” the P-fish got right into the classics with awesome takes on “46 Days” and “Stash.” The set ended with a “Tube” with a great jam and the Phish debut of the Ghosts of the Forest tune “Drift While You’re Sleeping.”

Set two was a bit clunkier than the first set but had plenty of heavy hitters including “Bathtub Gin,” “Ghost,” “Piper” and “Slave to the Traffic Light.” Phish encored with another Kasvot tune “Turtles in the Cloud” complete with the dance and a “Character Zero.”

Trey Anastasio’s new project, Ghosts of the Forest floated into Albany last night. Ghosts of the Forest’s short inaugural tour is a coming to a close this weekend with a pair of shows in New York City.

Ghosts of the Forest includes Trey Anastasio on guitar and vocals, Jon Fishman on drums, Jennifer Hartswick on vocals, Celisse Henderson on vocals, Tony Markellis on bass, and Ray Paczkowski on keys.

The shows feature new, original music written by Trey and Ghosts of the Forest that barre Trey’s soul for all to see. This is probably GOTF one and only tour, so if you have the chance go see them!
