Blackberry Smoke frontman Charlie Starr and frequent collaborator, Benji Shanks visited the Hargray Capitol Theatre in Macon, GA on Friday night for an intimate acoustic show.

The two guitar slingers shared stories, Blackberry Smoke tunes and some great covers. Among the covers were Bob Dylan’s “A Hard Rain’s Gonna Fall” and “Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More.” The Allman Brothers in the encore slot was especially well received and timed for the Macon, crowd.

Listen to Widespread Panic and Friends’ Epic “Maggot Brain” in Riviera Maya – 1/27/2018 Full Show AUD

Widespread Panic made their annual Panic en la Playa pilgrimage to Riviera Maya on the sunny shores of Mexico this weekend. The first night was interrupted by a sudden downpour that left WSP and fans running, including taping legend Z-man, who did his best to dry out after the storm.

The second night proved to be dryer, but Jimmy Herring and company provided a downpour of jams at the Hard Rock Hotel. During the second set, Eric Krasno and Ivan Neville joined Widespread Panic for an absolutely epic cover of Funkadelic’s “Maggot Brain.” Krasno and Neville stayed out for a another couple of tunes including “Ride Me High” and “Bust It Big.”

Listen to Phil Lesh and Friends Shakedown Hawaii on New Years Eve – 12/31/2017 Full Show AUD

Phil Lesh and Friends may have been the last band to ring in the new year in the US. As he did last year, Phil rang in the new year in Hawaii at the Hawaii Theatre in Honolulu.

This year, Phil was joined by a similar cast of friends including Grahame Lesh on guitar and vocals, Ross James on guitar and vocals, Alex Koford on drums and vocals, Jason Crosby on keyboards and Eric Krasno on guitar and vocals.

The three sets including tunes by The Velvet Underground, The Band, Bob Dylan and a whole lot of Grateful Dead. The third set kicked off with the countdown and then broke out into a crazy “Shakedown Street.” What better way to ring in the new year?

Listen to Dead and Company’s Patriotic Show in Bristow, VA – 6/23/2017 Full Show AUD

Dead and Company’s latest stop on their 2017 summer tour was right out side of Washington D.C. in Bristow, VA. This marks the second summer Dead and Co has played at Jiffy Lube Live.

Senator, former Saturday Night Live cast member and most importantly, Deadhead Al Franken took in the show and hung out with the boys backstage during the set break. Maybe the presence of Senator Franken and the proximity to D.C. compelled Bobby and the Company to close out the show with “US Blues,” “US Blues (reprise)” > “Liberty.”

Another theme in the show emerged in the first set with the run of “Althea,” “Peggy-O” and “Bertha.” Dead and Co put a exclamation point on the ladies’ themed set with “Man Smart, Woman Smarter.”

Another treat in the second set was John Coltrane’s “A Love Supreme” out of space.

Never Miss a Sunday Show: Listen to Dead and Company’s Monster Show at the Shoreline – 6/4/2017 Full Show AUD

Dead and Company wrapped up their two night stand at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA last night with an absolutely incredible show. Dead & Co have definitely returned to their blistering form from last summer and are taking old Dead tunes to new places.

One of the most surprising aspects of all the shows this summer has been how incredible Bob Weir’s voice has been. It’s hard to imagine a time he has sounded better and he really shines on songs like “El Paso.” Despite his incredible vocals, he still is Bob Weir and is prone to flubbing the words to songs he has sang for 50 years. During “Birdsong” last night, it was unclear whether Bobby was looking at the lyrics to the song on the iPad perched in front of him on stage or the Warrior’s game. He even gave an update on the basketball game score at one point (for those who care, the Cavs got pummeled for the second game in a row.)

Another highlight from the first set was a standout “Cassidy” thanks to John Mayer’s guitar solo.

The second set started with arguably two of the Dead’s most popular song-runs—”Help on the Way > Slipknot! > Franklin’s Tower” and “Scarlet Begonias > Fire on the Mountain.” The “Fire on the Mountain” gave way to a far out “Drums > Space.” Other notable jams in the second set were Bob Dylan’s “Hard Rain’s Gonna Fall.” The second set “Casey Jones” finisher was a little jarring, but still rocked.

The real treat of the evening was the goose-bump inducing “Brokedown Palace” encore.
