Leslie West, lead guitarist and vocalist for Mountain, died today at the all too young age of 75. West, one of the more under-appreciated rock guitarists may best be known for his soaring “Mississippi Queen.”

Warren Haynes often credits Leslie West as one of his guitar heroes. Back in 2011, while Haynes and the Allman Brothers Band were peakin at the Beacon during their annual run, they had the opportunity to shred with West. Towards at the end of the first set, Leslie West joined ABB on stage for a towering rendition of “Crossroads.”

Thanks to depper for the footage! RIP Leslie West.
