You’re walking in Central Park, enjoying the crisp fall air and changing leaves – life is good. Then you stumble upon Grateful Dead bassist Phil Leash doing a surprise improv jam set with Eric Krasno and Joe Russo – life is great!
As part of Jazz & Colors Festival back in 2013, Phil and just a couple of friends set up near Sheep’s Meadow in Central Park and jammed for 30 minutes. They were one of 30 popup acts across Central Park for the Festival.
Watch as the onlookers grow from a few to 100+ during this groovy, once-in-a-lifetime set. Most of the set was improv, but there was a great Get Back tucked into the middle of the set which a Soulive (Eric Krasno’s band) staple.
