You can put that headline on the list of things I thought I would ever write. Heavy metal legends teamed up with the one and only Neil Young last night at the Bridge School Benefit for an acoustic version of the Buffalo Springfield classic “Mr. Soul.”

Metallica performed a nine-song acoustic set, including a lot of acoustic debuts. For the last song of the set, they welcomed Young out for Mr. Soul.

While Metallica and Neil Young sound like an odd pairing, the version rocks.

The Bridge School Benefit concert continues tonight. Let’s cross our fingers for more collaborations like this!
