Jackie Greene celebrated his 36th birthday as only Jackie Greene could—with Bob Weir, Phil Lesh and a cast of other all-star musicians. During the third “Grateful Dead” set, Jackie was joined by Bobby, Phil, Nicki Bluhm, Mark Karan, Ross James, Jason Crosby, Bruce Spencer, and Jackie’s brother Alex Nelson for a Shakedown Street like you have never heard before.
What started out as a solid Shakedown took a turn into the unknown when Jackie busted out the riff from “Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2).” The Floyd jam didn’t feature any vocals, but rather Greene flexed his guitar muscle for about 6 minutes. After peaking, Jackie brings back Shakedown without missing a beat.
Jackie busted out this Shakedown/Brick sandwhich earlier this year, but I can’t find any mention of Bobby and Phil being involved in covering “Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2).”
Thanks to mrodin12 for the footage!
