Phil Lesh and the Terrapin Family Band had two headlining shows at Wanee this year – a full four sets! For the first show on the 20th, Phil and Family welcomed Neal Casal from the Chris Robinson Brotherhood and Circles Around the Sun.

Neal came out halfway through the first set and stayed out with the band for the rest of the set. Casal jammed on classic Dead tunes like “Minglewood Blues” and “Mr. Charlie.”

Listen to Marcus King Join Widespread Panic for a Blistering “One Kind Favor > New Speedway Boogie” at Wanee – 4/21/2018 Full Show AUD

After Widespread Panic’s first night at Wanee including the kick-ass sit in from Luther Dickinson, expectations were flying high for their second headlining set the following evening. Spoiler alert: they didn’t disappoint!

WSP invited a pair of guests to join them through out the evening including Jason Crosby on violin and keys and Marcus King on guitar.

King sat in for a pair of tunes, including “Bowlegged Woman” and an outstanding cover of “One Kind Favor” featuring “New Speedway Boogie” lyrics towards the end.

Watch Luther Dickinson Join Widespread Panic for “Smokestack Lightning” Encore at Wanee Festival

The Wanee Festival in Live Oak, Florida marks the beginning of the festival season and is usually one of the best of the season. The line-up at this year’s Wanee was headlined by Widespread Panic, Phil Lesh and Friends and As the Crow Flies among others.

As with most sets at Wanee, Widespread Panic was joined for a special guest for their encore on the 20th. Luther Dickinson, the lead guitarist from North Mississippi Allstars, joined JB and the crew for a an awesome cover of the blues standard, “Smokestack Lightning.”
