Watch Phish Peak at the Gorge with a Second Set “Tweezer”

Phish continued their summer tour at the gorgeous Gorge in George, Washington after their opening run at Lake Tahoe. Last night was their second of three nights at the Gorge.

Phish didn’t wait getting the second set started with a crowd-erupting “Tweezer.” The slow jam falls apart in the first half of the song before slowly building through the second half. Mike Gordon, who was spotted handing out fruit to fans topless before the show, keeps the jam going before Trey takes over with some wicked guitar work towards the end of the song.

Classic: Watch Phish’s Legendary Second Set at the Gorge in 1997 – 7/17/1998 Full Set Video

While Phish’s 1998 summer tour may not stand toe to toe with their fall tour in 1997, the summer had its moments for sure. One of those moments was the second set of their show at the Gorge on July 17, 1998.

After a spacey intro to “2001,” Fishman and Page drop into a funky groove and set the stage for the longest version of “Also Sprach Zarathustra” ever. Next up is a heavy-duty, growling and gnarly “Mikes Song.” Phish opens up into a blissful jam on the second half of “Mike’s Song” before Fishman lays down the beat for a super funky “Weekapaug Groove.” “Character Zero” wasn’t the best or the worst way to end the set, but it really didn’t matter at that point.

Watch Dave Matthews Band “Say Goodbye” to the Gorge Until 2018 – Multi-cam

Dave Matthews Band ended their three-night run at the Gorge last week on the 4th. While DMB is scheduled for a couple more festival shows, including Farm Aid, the Gorge show marked the end of their summer tour and last show until 2018 as the band has said they were taking 2018 off.

The annual Labor Day weekend run at the Gorge is to DMB fans as what the Dick’s run is to Phish fans. It’s always a special set of shows and marks the end of the summer.

Dave welcomed famous Brazilian wind-instrument extraordinaire Carlos Malta for “Say Goodbye” in the middle of their 20-song show. The song starts with an extended drum and insane flute jam thanks to Carter Beauford and Malta.

Dead and Company continued their west coast assault at arguably the most beautiful venue in the U.S. – The Gorge in Gorge, WA. Dead & Co treated fans to an equally beautiful night of Dead.

The highlights of the night include a smoking Brown Eyed Women, Cumberland Blues and the Oteil special – Eyes of the World.

It’s sad to think that we only have a week left of Dead and Company before the tour ends 😥
