Watch Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real Cover Neil Young’s “Walk On”

After a unique solo acoustic Soundcheck Song from Lukas Nelson last week, he is back with Promise of the Real for the finale of this web series.

Lukas and POTR chose “Walk On” from Neil Young’s 74 album On the Beach for this week’s Soundcheck Song. Nelson, along with POTR are one of the prestigious few bands that have backed Young on the road.

Thanks to Lukas Nelson for these wonderful covers!

Listen to Willie Nelson Cover Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life”

While Lukas Nelson has been busy with Promise of the Real during the pandemic shutdown pumping out Soundcheck Song covers on YouTube, his dad Willie has been working on a project of his own. On February 26th the 87 year young Willie Nelson will release not his first, but second Frank Sinatra tribute album.

The title track from the album, is Frank Sinatra’s immortal “That’s Life.” Nelson released a lyric video to accompany the first release off the forthcoming album.

Thanks to Willie Nelson for the track!

Watch Lukas Nelson Cover “I Must Be In A Good Place Now” on Soundcheck Songs

Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real are back on YouTube with another installment of Soundcheck Songs. This time around, Lukas and the crew picked a song by the late Bobby Charles.

I’m not going to lie—I had to look up Bobby Charles. That’s part of what’s so wonderful about Nelson’s Soundcheck Songs series. Charles was a NOLA singer songwriter who pioneered swamp pop and played with The Band at the Last Waltz back in 1976. Nelson chose to cover the jazzy “I Must Be in a Good Place Now” for this week’s Soundcheck Song.

Thanks to Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real for one of my favorite pandemic series.

Watch Allman Betts Band’s Soaring “Pale Horse Rider” from Georgia Comes Alive

Even thought the Georgia state senate run off race has come and gone, Live for Live Music keeps releasing excellent live music footage from the Georgia Comes Alive virtual festival.

The latest footage comes courtesy of the Allman Betts Band. Devon and Duane didn’t lose any momentum this summer and released their sophomoric album Bless Your Heart. The double guitar assault of “Pale Horse Rider” is one of the better tracks from their album.

Thanks to Allman Betts Band and to Live for Live Music for the footage!

Watch Warren Haynes Cover Van Morrison’s “Into the Mystic” at Georgia Comes Alive

Live for Live Music has continued to share a wealth of footage and performances from their one-day virtual Georgia Comes Alive music festival. The one-day event virtually brought together over 50 artists in support of getting the word out to vote in the Georgia Senate Run Off elections that took place yesterday.

Among the artists to share performances was Gov’t Mule frontman Warren Haynes. Donning an acoustic guitar, Warren performed Van Morrison’s beautiful classic “Into the Mystic.”

Thanks to Live for Live Music for continuing to share the footage!
