After Marcus King Band, Tedeschi Trucks Band and the Drive-By Truckers ended their annual Wheels of Soul tour at Red Rocks at the end of July. After the magnificent show was over, the party raged on in Denver.

Members of The Marcus King Band, led by DeShawn Alexander and a slew of friends headed to Cervantes’ Other Side in Denver for a funky after-show. The D-Vibes led supergroup, dubbed Watermelon Funk, was joined by members of the Tedeschi Trucks Band, JJ Grey and Mofro and other special guests.

After a groovin’ cover of Herbie Hancock’s “Watermelon Man,” the group was off and running.
