Listen to Phish Return to MSG for Killer Opening NYE Run Show – 12/28/2017 Full Show AUD

Phish made their mighty return to Madison Square Garden for their famed New Years Eve run last night. On any normal year, the NYE run at MSG would be the highlight of a NYC Phish fan, but with 13 MSG shows under Phish’s belt already, the boys had a lot to live up to.

Out of the gate, Phish was on fire. The opener “AC/DC Bag” lead to a monster “Wolfman’s Brother.” Other first set highlights include “Roggae” and a “Theme from the Bottom” set closer.

Phish opened the second set with phan-phavorite “Wilson” and set the stage for another killer set. While Phish had to spread out the heavy hitters during the Baker’s Dozen, they wasted no time busting out the classics like “Also Sprach Zarathustra,” “Harry Hood” and “Slave to the Traffic Light.”

Update: Watch Phish Bust Out Beatles and Neil Young Covers at Baker’s Dozen Night Seven – 7/29/2017 Full Show AUD

The donut theme of the night was cinnamon glaze and phans were all but sure Neil Young’s “Cinnamon Girl” was going to be played. And Phish did not disappoint, although they did make MSG wait until the encore before playing the 629 show bust out (last played on July 31, 1997.)

Shortly before the show had started, but well after most of the cinnamon glaze donuts had been consumed, an announcement over the PA system at MSG rang out: “Do not to eat the brown doughnuts, If you eat the brown doughnuts please report to the Waterwheel table.” Well, hoax or not, Phish put on a trippy show for night seven of thirteen at MSG.

The opening tune in each set was live-steamed via LivePhish. Phish opened with the phan-favorite “Llama” to kick-start the evening’s festivities. This marked the second time that Phish opened up a Baker’s Dozen show with an original as opposed to a cover.

Phish closed out the first set with their fourth ever cover of The Beatles’ classic tune, “I Am the Walrus.” The song had MSG jumping as you can see from rdeal1999’s footage.

After a packed 12-song first set, Phish kicked off the second set with possibly the jam of the night—”Blaze On” or “Glaze On” if you wanted to keep with the donut theme.

Listen to Pink Talking Fish’s Mind-bending Dark Side of Gamehendge Concept Show in Hartford – 3/25/2017 Full Show SBD

What do you get when you mix Phish, Talking Heads and Pink Floyd? Pink Talking Fish, of course. The tribute band has been spreading their unlikely mixture of funk and psychedelic covers for the last few years and have no signs of slowing down.

One of Pink Talking Fish’s latest endeavors is a mashup of the legendary Dark Side of the Moon album by Pink Floyd and Phish’s mythical Gamehendge sequence. If you aren’t familiar with Gamehendge, it’s a sequence of songs and a narrative rooted in Trey Anastasio’s senior project at Goddard College. Phish.net has an in-depth explanation of exactly what you are getting yourself info when Phish busts out a Gamehendge sequence at a show.

PTF throws in some Talking Heads tunes for good measure into the mix as well. Dark Side of Gamehendge clocks in at 30 songs over two sets. Wow.

Listen to Trey Anastasio’s Magical Acoustic Run Finale in Portsmouth – 3/11/2017 Full Show AUD

Trey Anastasio kicked off a three stop acoustic run earlier in the week in Northampton and last night ended it in Portsmouth, NH. The three shows are were in small, North East towns that may look like blips on the map to the rest of America, but were important to Phish’s growth and evolution.

As all three shows have been, last night’s performance was magical. It turns out that hearing Trey telling stories and performing Phish songs acoustically is one hell of a way to spend a Saturday evening.

Trey stuck to Phish and solo material for the most part except for a beautiful version of Paul Simon’s American Tune.

These three shows have been great for Phish fans who only have another 13 dates on the calendar to look forward to in 2017. The next time we’ll see Trey is at the Capitol for a pair of sold out shows with Trey Anastasio Band in April.

Listen to Trey Anastasio’s Brilliant Solo Acoustic Show at Academy of Music in Northampton – 3/8/2017 Full Show AUD

Phish may only have 13 more shows on the books so far for 2017, but lead guitarist and vocalist, Trey Anastasio has a busy season ahead. In addition to taking his band, aptly named Trey Anastasio Band on the road later this spring, he just kicked off a run of intimate, solo acoustic shows last night in North Hampton, MA.

Trey shared 26 songs last night, spanning Phish’s catalogue and his own solo material. The performance features Trey stripped down, authentic and open-hearted. What a beautiful night of music!
