The Trey Anastasio Trio, composed of Trey Anastasio, Jon Fishman, and Dezron Douglas, rocked the Mission Ballroom in Denver with a great performance last night. The show was the Trios second show in as many nights.
The first set began with a charged rendition of “I Never Needed You Like This Before.” The first public performance of “If I Could See The World” brought a tender note of nostalgia to the set, which was followed by a debut of “The Endless Dream” and “On Pillow Jets,” adding a fresh element to the mix. The set rounded out with a spirited version of “46 Days,” leaving the crowd buzzing with anticipation for what was to come.
In the second set, the Trio introduced another new piece, “Outside The Lines,” building on the creative momentum from the first set. The set continued to ebb and flow with the debut of “Machine,” and an unfinished “The Moma Dance” that kept the audience on their toes. A Fishman quote of “Louie, Louie” in “Twist” added a touch of playful surprise, before wrapping up with a heartfelt encore of “A Wave of Hope”.
