Joe Russo’s Almost Dead finished up their 10th anniversary run at the Capitol Theater in grand style last night. After getting the crowd warmed up with a few tunes including a rocking “St. Stephen,” JRAD pulled an audible and switched from electric to acoustic for the remainder of the first set.
12 minutes deep into “St. Stephen,” the stage crew started assembling a second kit for the band. Four minutes later, JRAD transitioned to an acoustic cover of Waylon Jennings’ “Only Daddy That’ll Walk.”

Dead and Company’s 2021 Summer tour came to an end with a two night run at Chicago’s Wrigley Field. Bobby and the boys aren’t calling it quits quite yet for the year—Dead and Co will be back in October for a fall leg of the tour.
Mayer took the lead on his favorite Dead tune and an unusual opener—”Althea.” Dead and Co delivered a great closing show including a monster second set that included “China Cat > Rider,” “Estimated > Eyes” and “Help > Slip > Frank” and more. The tour ended just as it started, with “Touch of Grey”—the perfect anthem for the times.
The Grateful Dead have returned with another installment of Shakedown Stream earlier this week. The YouTube pandemic-era streaming series features full concerts from the Dead’s vault.
The latest footage comes from summer 1990 at Foxboro Stadium in Foxboro, MA. The show starts with an appropriate “Shakedown Street” and doesn’t let up from there.
