Got the summertime blues? Go on a long, strange tour with me through time. Back by popular demand, we’re extending the We Will Get By Streaming Tour into August. Tune in on YouTube and join the chat as we explore the wonders of summer tours past. We will get by, we will survive!
The next stop on our We Will Get By Streaming tour is summer tour, 1980. The Dead were riding high in the summer of 1980 after some stellar summers to finish out the 70s.
At the end of August, 1980 the Dead did a three night stand at the Uptown Theater in Chicago. Tonight’s recording comes from the first show of the run. Like a few of the recordings shared over the last two months, Phil is way up in the mix on this soundboard and it’s glorius.
Out of the gate, the “Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo” is a smoker. Also check out “China > Rider,” and “Comes a Time” in the second set.
