Warren Haynes brought the heat once again to his annual Christmas Jam in Asheville, NC. This year’s concert was headlined by Phil Lesh and Friends and featured a hearty set of good old fashion blues and rock by Gov’t Mule.

During Mule’s set, Warren invited Scott Metzger, Katie Jacoby & Robert Kearns to join on a fantastic cover of CSNY’s “Almost Cut My Hair.”

Davy Knowles, bluesman and front man of the now defunct Back Door Slam visited Sellersville, PA with his band last night.

Davy jammed deep on a selection of his own tunes and some classic rock tunes like The Meters’ “Fire on the Bayou” and Traffic’s “Dear Mr. Fantasy.” Davy also covered CSNY’s timeless “Almost Cut My Hair.”

Watch Phil Lesh and Warren Haynes Rip Into “Almost Cut My Hair” at Newport Folk Festival

The annual Newport Folk Festival is happening this weekend at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, RI. The festival this year has some pretty heavy hitters including Phil Lesh, Warren Haynes, and Trey Anastasio among dozens of other acts.

On Friday, festival goers were treated to sets by both Warren Haynes and Phil Lesh and the Terrapin Family Band. During Phil’s set, his old buddy and frequent collaborator in Phil Lesh and Friends, Warren Haynes was invited to the stage.

Warren, Phil and the Family Band chose to cover a tune that will be 50 years old in January—”Almost Cut My Hair” by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. As you can imagine, Warren takes center stage with his blistering guitar work.

The last week has been a great one for Dead fans. While Bob Weir and Wolf Bros are making their away across the US during for their inaugural tour, Phil Lesh and a group of his friends did a Halloween run on the East Coast.

Dubbed Phil-O-Ween, Lesh teamed up with Twiddle on Halloween proper at the Cap, and then did a pair of shows with Karl Denson, Jimmy Herring and The Terrapin Family Band. Herring double-dipped Halloween runs this year, flying to NYC after his massive Vegas run with Widespread Panic.

The official line-up for the evening included Jason Crosby on keyboards and vocals, Ross James on guitar, vocals, Elliot Peck on vocals, Grahame Lesh on guitar and vocals, Nate Graham on drums, Phil Lesh on bass guitar and vocals, Karl Denson on sax, flute, percussion and vocals, Alex Koford on guitar and vocals and Jimmy Herring on guitar.

The set had plenty of Dead, but also some killer covers including CSNY’s “Ohio” and “Almost Cut My Hair.”

Listen to Phil Lesh and the Terrapin Family Band Cover The Beatles & CSNY in Vermont – 7/26/2018 Full Show AUD

Phil Lesh and the Terrapin Family Band stuck around the East Coast after the Peach Festival in PA and made their way north for a rare show in Burlington, VT. The show was at Waterfront Park, right on Lake Champlain and Midnight North opened up for Phil and his Family Band.

The 13-song set included a good mix of Dead tunes with a couple of covers thrown in at the end. “Mountains of the Moon” segued into The Beatles’ “Tomorrow Never Knows.” Phil didn’t waste anytime busting out another classic cover and followed up The Beatles tune with a rocking version of CSNY’s “Almost Cut My Hair.”

Twiddle frontman Mihali Savoulidis made a surprise appearance and sat in halfway through the set on the Dead classic “Brown Eyed Women.”
