After an incredible first night, Phil, Jackie Greene, Eric Krasno, Karl Denson, Neal and Alan Evans and Jason Crosby took us on another magical journey last night in Coney Island.

On a night that included Dark Star, Sugaree, Eyes of the World, Scar>Fire and so many other Dead classics, the song of the night was the cover of “Dear Mr. Fantasy” (originally by Traffic) that the Dead liked to cover so much in their later years.

The great video footage “Dear Mr. Fantasy” is courtesy of YouTube user themeboudin who didn’t have a good angle of Phil, but captured the raw power of Jackie Greene. Watch him absolutely own this song. Add in some soaring saxophone from Karl Denson and you have an instant classic. Karl even busted out the cow bell during Jackie’s solo.

I can’t wait to get my hands on this recording!
