The Grateful Dead have returned to YouTube with their All the Years Live series. The latest footage comes from one of their most famous runs—Giza, Egypt in 1978.
The Dead’s two night run in front of the great pyramids was immortalized in the live album and DVD Rocking the Cradle. One of the songs from the concert film was “Row Jimmy.” Here is what Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux says about the performance, “Acknowledged by Jerry as one of his favorite songs to play live, Row Jimmy was a complex, interesting, and dynamic song played more than 275 times. This wonderful version from Egypt features some beautiful interplay between everyone in the band.”
Thanks to the Grateful Dead for the footage!
