Dave Matthews Band is no stranger to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, having played 37 shows there since 1994. This particular show at SPAC in 2001 stands out because of the performance of Seek Up that DMB tucked into the middle of the show.
Affectionately referred to as the “epic wailing version” of Seek Up, Dave goes bonkers at the 11:50 mark and the entire bands kicks it up a notch to match his energy. If you can’t decipher that signature Dave Matthews wail, I found an attempt at transcribing the lyrics. See below:
11:52
Soon we’ll die and go home (?)
We don’t live enough
But where/when (?)
Don’t leave behind your soul
Oh the end left us behind
Protect me (?)
Oh lover don’t leave me
Don’t leave me alone here again
Lonely lives
Oh lonely lives
Forgive me
Don’t leave me behind
12:39
One day
One life
Lover/love her (?)
?
?
?
?
Wonderful
True love of your soul (?)
Love (?)
Love me
13:05
So in love/we love/alone (?)
Alone in this place
And when I caught you there
You swore that you were innocent
Without a soul
When you stole all the gold from me
And when the last breath was breathed
You walked to another place
To end together
Life was small
