Watch Melvin Seals and JGB’s “Positively 4th Street” at Jam in the Sand X

With the New Year’s Eve festivities in our rearview mirror, the tropical destination weekends are starting. The first of the new year is Dark Star Orchestra and Jam in the Sand X in Runaway Bay, Jamaica.

Joining DSO for the four day excursion, is Melvin Seals and JGB. Joining Seals is John Kadlecik on lead guitar and vocal duties, John-Paul McLean on bass, and Jeremy Hoenig on the drums.

Heads who arrived a little early were treated last night to a set from Seals and JGB that included a sublime cover of “Positively 4th Street.”

One of the highlights of Gov’t Mule’s Island Exodus is the intimate question and answer session that Mule frontman Warren Haynes does during the excursion. Haynes treated fans to an hour-plus of answering their questions and crooning on some classics.

Listen to Gov’t Mule Second Show at Island Exodus – 1/18/2022 AUD

After a successful night one in Runaway Bay, Jamaica, Gov’t Mule had to postpone night two due to weather. Even with the postponement, the Mule still had to contend with heavy rain during their rescheduled set.

Captain Ron Holloway joined Mule for nearly half the show. Warren and the band trotted out debuts from their new album Heavy Load Blues like “Street Corner Blues,” and mixed in old Mule classics and covers like “The Joker.”

Watch Ron Holloway Join Gov’t Mule for Allman Brothers Band’s “Dreams” in Jamaica

While Gov’t Mule’s Island Exodus dodged a cancelation due to COVID, it couldn’t hide from Mother Nature. The Mule’s second night show was postponed due to inclement weather.

Despite the best of plans, Mule and their fans contended with heavy rain during the make-up set the following evening. Mule made the best of it and invited Captain Ron Holloway out for a couple of tunes towards the end of their set including “Dreams.”
