Watch Metallica and San Francisco Symphony’s “For Whom The Bell Tolls” from S&M2

Metallica and the San Francisco Orchestra recorded one of the best albums of the 90s titled S&M. The double album recorded in April of 1999 was released in November and showcased the classic Metallica’s catalogue backed by the grandiose sound of the symphony.

20 years later, Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony teamed up again for S&M2 to be released next week. In addition to the new album, Metallica also has a private concert to be released at drive-in theaters across the country later this month.

In the lead up to the release of S&M2, Metallica has shared pro-shot footage from the concert film of “For Whom the Bell Tolls.”

Watch Dead and Company Ring in 2020 with Three Sets in San Francisco – 12/31/2019 Video

On the heels of the Grateful Dead’s Shakedown Stream last night, Dead and Company are back with their weekly installment of One More Saturday Night stream on YouTube.

Dead & Co have chosen on their last shows they did before the pandemic wiped out the live music scene—12/31/2019 at the Chase Center in San Francisco. Following their Fall Fun Run, Bobby and the boys did a pair of shows in LA followed by a pair of shows in San Francisco for their New Year’s Run.

This NYE show is required listening for Dead & Co fans. The three sets include just one awesome tune after another including “Help > Slip > Frank, Estimated Prophet, Eyes of the Word” to kick off the second set.

Listen to Dead and Company Welcome 2020 with Three Glorious Sets in San Francisco – 12/31/2019 SBD

Dead and Company reprised their fall fun run with a two-city New Years run that included stops in LA and San Francisco. At the Chase Center in SF, Bob Weir, Billy Kruetzmann, Mickey Hart, John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti delivered three, jam-packed sets to welcome in 2020.

The three sets enabled Dead & Co to legally fit in both a “Help > Slip > Frank” and a “Scar > Fire.” Other highlights include “Eyes of the World,” “Estimated Prophet,” “Sugaree,” and so many more.

Before the clock struck midnight, Garcia’s daughter Trixie Garcia and her half-sister, Ken Kesey’s daughter Sunshine Kesey, flew above the crowd in the arena in a bi-plane. The ladies and flapper dancers on stage were dressed in 1920s attire as they welcomed the 2020s.

Watch Bob Weir and Sammy Hagar Join John Mayer for “Fire on the Mountain” in San Francisco

John Mayer, who is in between Dead and Company tours is currently globetrotting on hit 2019 World Tour. He has a handful of more dates in the US before he heads to Europe for the remainder of the tour.

Last night, Mayer landed at the Chase Center in San Francisco. Deep into the second set, Mayer was joined by Bob Weir for the fan-favorite “Queen of California.” Half-way through the song, Mayer and Weir segued into the Dead classic “Fire on the Mountain.”

Right as the opening lyrics were being sung, a second guest emerged from backstage—Sammy Hagar. The legendary vocalist took one of the verses and joined in on the choruses for the rest of the song.

Watch Santana Join Eric Clapton for “High Time We Went” in San Francisco

Eric Clapton has a few, rare gigs ahead of his Crossroads Guitar Festival on September 20th and 21st in Dallas. The first one was at the Chase Center in San Francisco last night. Clapton’s band includes Doyle Bramhall II, Nathan East, Chris Stainton, Paul Carrack, Steve Gadd, Sharon White and Katie Kissoon.

Clapton treated San Fran to a smattering of classics from across his career including “Badge” from his early days with Cream to “Tears in Heaven” which he recorded in the 90s.

After the set, Clapton emerged with longtime friend Santana for the encore. The two guitar legends jammed on Joe Cocker’s “High Time We Went.”
