Anders Osborne rang in the New Year in Nederland, CO at the Caribou Room. Denver-area music fans had a tough choice between Anders and My Morning Jacket for NYE, but I think both options were winners.

Anders two sets was sprinkled with just a couple covers, but he tucked in a massive treat inside the first set. The opening chords to Neil Young’s “Cortez the Killer” started to ring from Osborne’s guitar for the fourth song of the set. The tune slowly built like a thunderstorm on the horizon and erupted with Anders’ blistering guitar solo at the 9-minute mark.
