Gov’t Mule continued their massive tour this summer and fall with a monster show at Red Rocks last night. The Mule reprised their Dark Side of the Mule for one of their three sets for the final time this summer.

Watch Gov’t Mule and Avett Brothers Smash Pink Floyd’s “Time” in Michigan

Gov’t Mule and Magpie Salute teamed back up with the Avett Brothers last week for a stretch of dates to reprise the Dark Side of the Mule—Mule playing a full set of Pink Floyd tunes.

One of the Dark Side of the Mule stops was in Clarkston, Michigan at the DTE Energy Music Theater. As with the other shows before it, Mule invited members from Magpie and the Avett Brothers up for some of the Floyd tunes.

Towards the end of the set, Warren welcomed Seth and Scott Avett up for Pink Floyd’s masterpiece off of Dark Side of the Moon, “Time.” Mule and the Avett Brothers are a match made in heaven on this tune.

Gov’t Mule, the Avett Brothers and Magpie Salute pulled into Mansfield, MA to perform one of their limited ‘Dark Side of the Mule’ tour dates this past weekend. The day before, the Mule treated NJ to some killer renditions of Floyd tunes.

As they did the night before, the Mule kicked off the set with a couple of originals to warm up the crowd before diving into the Floyd catalogue. The first Floyd cover of the night was the short, but sweet “Pigs on the Wing (Part 2).” Warren and company didn’t waste anytime getting into the good stuff—the next tune was a 13+ minute “Shine on You, Crazy Diamond” featuring Ron Holloway on the sax.

Other guests throughout the night included the Avett Brothers on “Time” and Marc Ford and John Hogg on “The Nile Song.”

While the setlist was similar to the night before, the Mule threw in some different tunes like “Comfortable Numb” and “Echoes (Part 2).” And what better way to close out a night of Pink Floyd music than with Warren leading Great Woods in “Wish You Were Here” on the 12-string guitar?

Watch Gov’t Mule’s Epic “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” in New Jersey

Gov’t Mule rolled into Holmdel, NJ for the second ‘Dark Side of the Mule’ mini-tour with the Avett Brothers and Magpie Salute. After a rocking set from Magpie and a mellow set from the Avett Brothers, the Mule thundered in with a set opening “Thorazine Shuffle.”

After “Banks of the Deep End,” Warren and company launched into the Pink Floyd catalogue for the remainder of the show. “One of these Days” was the perfect palette cleanser and set the stage for a majestic night of Mule flavored Floyd.

While most of Dark Side of the Moon was covered, the Mule threw in other Floyd treats like “Echoes (Part 1)” and a massive “Shine on You Crazy Diamond” set closer. The Avett Brothers, Marc Ford, John Hogg, Ron Holloway and Torbjörn “T-Bone” Andersson all lent their talents at various parts of the set. The back-up singers included Machan Taylor, Mini Carlsson & Sophia Ramos.

Watch Highlights From Roger Waters’ Two Spectacular Nights in Boston

Roger Waters played his last two gigs of 2017 in the US before heading up North to a pretty extensive Canadian tour. His final top in the states was Boston for a pair of gigs at the TD Garden. After Canada, Roger hits Australia in early 2018 and then on to Europe for a massive spring and summer 2018 tour. Point being, this is the last time Waters will be in the states for quite some time.

Aside from Roger Waters’ political messages that are as strong if not stronger than his music, the audio and visual experience that Roger produces is something to behold. Roger’s website describes it as:

“Roger Waters’ legendary live performances are renowned as immersive sensory experiences featuring high class, state-of- the-art audio visual production and breathtaking quad sound.”

Luckily for us, Jamey Klein was in attendance and got tons of great footage from both nights! Jamey’s thoughts on the two nights — “Needless to say, Roger made quite a statement as only he can – and it was spectacular!! Like nothing I’ve ever seen before….”
