Halloween came a couple of days early for Widespread Panic. After the three day run in Milwaukee, WSP headed west to “bat country” for three shows in the Vegas desert. The third and final show of the run featured a set and the band in costumes from the move about Hunter S. Thompson, ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.’ Terry Gilliam’s cult classic follows Raoul Duke (Johnny Depp) and his attorney Dr. Gonzo’s (Benicio Del Toro) trip across the desert to Las Vegas. Most of the band fell in line with the theme:
JB: ‘The Dude’ w/ ‘Wrong Movie’ on back
Dave: Hunter S. (w/ hat)
Jimmy: Hunter S. (w/ goggles)
Sunny: Chef (Southpark)
JoJo: Hunter S. (w/ cig)
Duane: Dr Gonzo
Per the usual Halloween WSP show, Panic busted out plenty of surprises and covers including “Home on the Range,” “Low Spark of the High-Heeled Boys,” “Magic Carpet Ride” and “House of the Rising Sun.”
