Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi are no strangers to sharing the stage with Widespread Panic. The husband and wife have sat in with WSP several times through-out the years and whenever they do, it’s a treat.
Last night, WSP kicked-off their two-night run in St. Augustine, FL. These two shows mark the end of their tour, until they pick back up in late October.
WSP covered Pops Staples, War and Howlin’ Wolf in the first two sets. On “Slippin’ Into Darkness” Widespread welcomed Steve Lopez to the stage to play shaker on the funky War classic.
For the encore, Derek and Susan came out for 24 minutes of shredding and sultry vocals. They started off the encore with the blues standard “Good Morning Little School Girl” and then ended with Joe Cocker’s “High Time We Went.”
Wow – what a show! How will they top it for night 2?
