Watch Oteil Burbridge’s Gorgeous Solo Performance of “Stella Blue” in His Studio

Oteil Burbridge, former Allman Brothers Band bassist and current Dead and Company bassist has shared a beautiful Dead cover on his YouTube page recently.

In support of his Ozone bass lesson program, Oteil shared a solo take of the Dead classic “Stella Blue” on the bass. While Bob Weir usually takes the lead on Stella, Oteil shows he is more than able to handle the vocals on the classic tune.

Thanks to Oteil Burbridge for the footage!

Listen to Phil Lesh and The Q’s Finale at the Capitol Theater – 10/13/2021 AUD

Phil Lesh returned last night to the Cap with his first group of Friends for the final show in the first of three 3-show runs. Phil’s crew for the first run of shows is better known as The Q which includes John Molo, Rob Barraco, Jimmy Herring and Warren Haynes.

This show was my first time back at the Cap since the pandemic shut down live music last year. Phil and The Q came out swinging with a strong first set “Help on the Way > Slipknot!” Phil pocketed “Franklin’s Tower” for later in the second set and Warren lead the band in a raging cover of “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.”

The second set was pretty much all fire from the opening “Scar > Fire” to the set ending “Franklin’s Tower.” The Q reprised “Low Spark Of High-Heeled Boys” from earlier in the run and sneaked in a cover of “I Am the Walrus”—the second Beatles tune of the evening. The standout from the set was Warren leading the band in a jaw-dropping rendition of “Stella Blue.”

Watch Warren Haynes’ Soulful “Stella Blue” in New Haven

More footage from the Daze Between Festival at the Westville Music Bowl in New Haven, CT has emerged. Included in the one-day event was a solo set from Warren Haynes.

In keeping with the celebration of Jerry Garcia, Uncle Warren treated New Haven to a cover of the Dead’s classic ballad “Stella Blue.” Warren, who is no stranger to the Dead catalogue, nails the tune.

Thanks to Less Than Face Productions for the great footage!
