Wanee Music Festival’s annual run came to an end this year. Last year, the organizers of the festival announced that the festival wouldn’t be happening in 2019 and in it’s stead would be a two day block party in Fort Lauderdale at a few different venues.
While a far cry from the Wanee Festival, the black party created many memorable moments. One of those moments came on the second night during the North Mississippi Allstars set. Towards the end of a lengthy festival set, Marcus King joined NMA for some face-melting blues. First up was a cover of Robert Johnson’s “Crossroads.” Next up was the Woody Guthrie tune that the Dead popularized, “Goin’ Down the Road Feeling Bad.” Another Dead favorite, “Deep Elem Blues” followed before NMA and King jammed on “ML (Goin’ Home).”
