Listen to Neal Casal Jam on Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing” from 1993

Neal Casal’s YouTube channel has been sharing a wealth of content in the wake of the guitarists death two years ago. In addition to podcast episodes of Highway Butterfly: The Stories of Neal Casal, the channel has dropped some vintage Casal recordings.

The latest recording features the Neal Casal Band with longtime musical collaborator John Ginty on keyboards. The recording comes from the Arlington Cafe in Mt Arlington, NJ back in 1993 and features Neal exploring the Jimi Hendrix classic “Little Wing.”

Watch Warren Haynes Cover Jimi Hendrix, Grateful Dead and More at South Farms

Warren Haynes with Danny Louis returned to Morris, CT for another show in their run at South Farms last week. As he has before, Uncle Warren delivered two stellar sets of originals and choice covers.

In the first set, Warren and Danny treated the farm to a beautiful version of Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing” which segued into the Mule’s “Wine and Blood” before heading into Elton John’s “Madman Across the Water.”

In the second set, Warren sunk his teeth into the Grateful Dead’s “Loser.”

To cap off the night, Warren and Danny flexed their vocal abilities with Son House’s “Grinnin’ in Your Face.”

Warren Haynes got the gang back together again for another benefit show for Debra of America for EB research. Joining Warren at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY was George Porter Jr on bass, Joe Russo on drums, John Medeski on keys, and Karl Denson on the sax.

Entitled One Night Only Again, the quintet jammed on a selection of covers by bands including Allman Brothers Band, Cream, the Rolling Stones and more.

Listen to Steve Kimock Shred on “Little Wing > Terrapin Station” in Arkansas – 10/4/2019 AUD

Steve Kimock and Friends traveled to Fayetville, AR to perform at the intimate George’s Majestic Theater last week.

Kimock’s crew included Jeff Chimenti on keys John Morgan Kimock on drums and Reed Mathis on bass with a couple of guest sit ins from Tanya Shylock on vocals and Miles Kimock on guitar. With three Kimocks in the house, it was a family affair.

The two sets were stellar, but the closing “Little Wing > Terrapin Station” was the icing on the cake.

Watch Jason Isbell’s Set Closing “Little Wing” at the Cap

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit headlined the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY last night. Isbell, former member of Drive-By Truckers member and four time Grammy award winner, is out on the road with his band the 400 Unit in support of their new album coming out in October.

At the end of a 17-song set, Isbell treated the Cap to a cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing.” Isbell and 400 Unit guitarist Sadler Vaden took center stage during the cover with blazing guitar solos.

Isbell delivered mostly original material with a few exceptions. In addition to “Little Wing,” Isbell dusted off a couple of Drive-By Truckers tunes including one of my favorite, “Decoration Day.”
