Update: Full show AUD posted courtesy of Justin Kacz.
It’s been a few weeks since Dead and Company finished their 2017 summer tour which means John Mayer and Bob Weir haven’t shared the stage since July 1st at Wrigley Field—until last Thursday night.
John Mayer is on the second leg of his Search for Everything tour with a format where he plays with his full band, performs a solo mini-acoustic set, does a few songs with the Trio and then reprises the full band format. During Thursday’s show, Mayer welcomed Weir up for the last tune of his acoustic set—”Friend of the Devil.” Mayer has done the tune several times on his tour, but this was the first with the Grateful Dead founding member during this summer tour.
Mayer welcomed Weir back out with the full band later in the show for a rocking version of “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” that was reminiscent of Dead and Company’s cover of the Bob Dylan classic.
Thanks to Bradley Bedsworth for the footage!
