Looking at the two incredible weekend line-ups of Jazz Fest in New Orleans only tells half the story of what this festival is all about. The half of the fun happens in the days in between the two weekends. One of the most magical concerts happened at the One Eyed Jacks and was aptly named the Daze Between Band. The starting line-up for the Daze Between Band reads like an all-star team: Eric Krasno on guitar, Otiel Burbridge on bass, Duane Trucks on drums, Jeff Sipe on drums, Scott Metzger on guitar, Danny Louis on keys, Nate Werth on percussion and Lyle Divinsky on vocals.

The set originally was to be dedicated to co-founding drummer of the Allman Brothers Band who left us earlier this year, Butch Trucks. With the tragic passing of Col. Bruce Hampton after the star-studded Hampton 70 birthday concert last week, it only felt right to dedicate the show to the two giants who nurtured and grew so many wonderful musicians in their shadows.

The super late night set was joined by a variety of guests including former Allman Brothers Band guitarist, Warren Haynes. Uncle Warren sat in with the Daze Between Band for the majority of the first set. Other guests included Oteil’s brother Kofi Burbridge on the flute and Ike Stubblefield on the keys among others.
