Watch Billy Strings Cover “Help > Slip > Frank” at the Capitol Theater – 2/24/2021 2nd Set Video

Billy Strings just finished a 6-night run at the Capitol Theater dubbed The Deja Vu Experiment. The live-streamed run coincided with the 50th anniversary of the Dead’s run at the Capitol Theater back in February of 1971.

On the final night of the run, Billy debuted a bluegrass-infused cover of the Dead’s classic suite “Help on the Way > Slipknot! > Franklin’s Tower.” Rewind to the beginning of the video to also check out Billy covering “Deal” or stick around for “Brokedown Palace” after “Help > Slip > Frank.”

Listen to the Oteil Burbridge Trio Jam on the Dead at The Spirit Of The Suwannee Music Park – 2/13/2021 AUD

The Spirit Of The Suwannee Music Park, host to the killer annual music festival hosted a two-night golf cart drive-in event. Dubbed ‘Funky Mardi Gras “Mask”erade,’ the Saturday night slot was taken by the Oteil Burbridge Trio.

Oteil, who usually opts for a more traditional ‘Friends’ lineup, was joined by Tom Guana on guitar and Pete Lavazoli on drums. All three musicians took turns sharing the vocal responsibilities. As one would suspect, the set was stuffed with plenty of Dead and JGB tunes.

Watch Joe Russo’s Almost Dead’s First Ever Show from 2013 at the Brooklyn Bowl

Grateful Dead tribute band, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead started their long strange trip a little over 8 years ago. Russo gathered the gang for the first time on January 26th, 2013 at the Brooklyn Bowl during the 2nd night of Freak Ball XIII.

For the first show at the gate, JRAD showed incredible chops and command of the Dead catalogue. After the opener “Bertha” there was no doubt that this wasn’t just another Dead cover band.

It feels so good to see Phil and his crew back in action at the Terrapin Crossroads. Phil and Friends have played a handful of outdoor gigs in the last few weeks. On Thursday earlier this week, Phil, Grahame Lesh, Stu Allen, and Jason Crosby visited the backyard again for another Dead set.

Watch Multi-Cam Footage of Grateful Dead’s “Help > Slip > Frank” from Hampton ’92

While the Grateful Dead’s official YouTube channel has been a proverbial goldmine of footage this year between Shakedown Stream and All the Years Live, if you are like me, you can never get enough video of the Dead! Enter YouTube legend LoloYodel.

LoloYodel has compiled some vintage camera footage from the Dead’s stop in Hampton, Virginia during the summer of 1992. The Dead’s show at the Mother Ship on 3/5/1992 featured a rare “Help on the Way > Slipknot! > Franklin’s Tower” first set opener. Usually reserved for the second set, Jerry and the fellas (including Bruce Hornsby on the grand piano) delivered a hot “Help > Slip > Frank” to get the party started.
