Watch Phish’s Monster “Mercury > Free” in Alabama

The Phish show on 07/12/2023 at the Orion Amphitheater in Huntsville, AL had many high points, but “Mercury > Free” stole the show. This combo was like a journey, showing off the band’s knack for blending different musical moods.

“Mercury” kicked off the adventure, growing into a wild jam. Around 10 minutes in, the band threw in some fun “Pet Cat” teases, adding a cool vibe. Trey’s skillful strumming was a big highlight, adding his own touch to the performance.

Then came “Free.” The band moved into this song so smoothly it felt like magic. While it didn’t have the deep sound some fans might want, the band was clearly in sync, showing just how well they can play together.

A sneaky tease of James Brown’s “Super Bad” in “Free” was a fun surprise. The “Mercury > Free” jam really showed off what Phish does best – going on musical adventures that are always fresh, unexpected, and engaging. This combo was a standout moment, proving Phish’s creativity never stops.

The P-fish have officially kicked off their spring tour! After a nine-year absense, Phish opened their tour with a pair of dates in Seattle, WA. The band hasn’t played their since October of 2014.

During the second show of the run at the Climate Pledge Arena, Phish paid homage to “local musician” as Trey called him, Jimi Hendrix with a blazing “Izabella” that was born out of “Wolfman’s Brother” in the first set.

Watch Phish’s Epic “Free” from Blossom

Phish returned to one of their tried and true tour stops earlier this week—Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Fall, OH.

The P-fish didn’t waste any time getting into the deep jams in the second set. They opened with an absolutely monster “Free” jam that extended past the 25 minute mark.

Phish wrapped up their first run of the spring and summer tour—three nights at The Wharf Amphitheater in Orange Beach, Alabama.

On the second night of the run, Phish wrapped up a fantastic first set with a floating “Free.”

After a special Dave Matthews sit-in on night one, the P-fish returned with more heat on night two, including the debut cover of the Stones’ “Satisfaction.”
