November, 2016 marks the 40th anniversary of the “The Last Waltz,” The Band’s farewell concert on November 25, 1976. The original “The Last Waltz” was an all-star affair with dozens of rock icons joining The Band for one final concert. The show has since become legendary and is celebrated on special occasions. Last night was one of those special occasions. Dozens of musicians came together last night at the Capitol Theatre to recreate “The Last Waltz” in it’s entirety.
Last night’s roster included Phosphorescent performed the Bob Dylan suite, Sam Cohen, Nels Cline, Natalie Prass, Scott Metzger (Joe Russo’s Almost Dead), Joe Russo (Joe Russo’s Almost Dead), Dave Dreiwitz (Ween / Joe Russo’s Almost Dead), Ryan Miller (Guster), Binky Griptite (The Dap Kings), John Roderick (The Long Winters), Steve Marion (Delicate Steve), Jon Shaw (Shaky Graves, Cass McCombs), Alecia Chakour (Tedeschi Trucks, Warren Haynes Bands), Josh Kaufman, Eric D Johnson (Fruit Bats), Matt Trowbridge (RANA), Eric Slick (Dr. Dog), Stuart D. Bogie (Superhuman Happiness), Raymond James Mason, Jordan McLean and John Altieri. Wow.
