The Grateful Dead are back with another installment of All the Years Live on YouTube. The latest tour stop is Louisville, summer 1990.
To close the second set, the Dead treated Cardinal Stadium to Chuck Berry’s “Around and Around.” Here is what Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux notes about the performance, “Another Chuck Berry song added to the repertoire for the Grateful Dead to rock out on, Around and Around was played consistently from late 1970 until 1995. It was primarily a show-closer in 1978, was joined with Good Lovin’ mostly from 1979 onward, but in Spring 1990 it became a stand-alone show closer again, in a new arrangement, as heard here.”
Thanks to the Grateful Dead for the footage!
