One of the best parts of Jazz Fest are the late night jams and the shows sandwiched between the actual Jazz Fest weekends. On Sunday night, a once in a lifetime collaboration dubbed “Z-Funk: A Tribute To Led Zeppelin & P-Funk” went down at The Maison. The line-up was anchored by two of the best guitar players in the biz, Roosevelt Collier and Brandon “Taz” Niederauer. The line-up also included Michelangelo Carubba & Shira Elias (Turkuaz), Steve Swatkins (Allen Stone), Rob Walker (The Main Squeeze), and Mike “Maz” Maher & Chris Bullock (Snarky Puppy).
One of the best runs of the evening was the epic “Give Up The Funk > Ramble On > Whole Lot Of Love.” Even typing those songs between the same set of quotes puts a smile on my face. Taz and Roos crushed the guitar solos while the rest of the crew kept the funk rolling.
Thanks to Nunu Zomot for the great footage.
