Dead and Company only has six more dates in their all-too brief fall tour. Their last tour bus started down south yesterday and landed in Charlotte, NC at the Spectrum Center.
Charlotte wasn’t only treated to Bobby donning the acoustic guitar in the first set for a pair of tunes, including “Peggy-O” and “When I Paint My Masterpiece” but also a debut. To kick off the second set Dead and Company did yet another debut this fall tour with The Band’s “The Wight.” The cover comes just days after the 41st anniversary of The Band’s historic last performance, The Last Waltz. Keyboardist and one of the unsung heroes in Dead and Company, Jeff Chimenti even took a turn singing a verse in “The Weight.”
Other highlights include a blistering “Bertha,” Mayer on “Terrapin Station” and the “Black Muddy River > Playin’ in the Band” encore.
