If you haven’t heard of Consider the Source, you definitely need to check them out. I saw them for the first time at one of the smaller stages at The Peach Festival a couple of years back and was mesmerized by their blend of “sci-fi middle eastern fusion” as they refer to it on their website.
If intergalactic beings of pure energy, after initiation into an order of whirling dervishes, built some kind of pan-dimensional booty-shaking engine, powered by psychedelics and abstract math, it’d probably just sound like a CTS tribute band.
Sun Lab Studio is a mobile, solar-powered sound studio that records musicians in different natural settings and powers the music from, well, the sun. Sub Lab Studio caught up with CTS earlier last year in Pats 30 Acres, in Wall, NJ for a far-out version of Radiohead’s “Reckoner.” The tune comes from my favorite Radiohead album, In Rainbows.
Gabriel Marin on the double-neck guitar, immediately transports you to a far away land with his middle-eastern slide guitar sound. This is not your average Radiohead cover.
Consider the Source is:
Gabriel Marin – Guitar
John Ferrara – Bass
Jeff Mann – Drums
Thanks to Sun Lab Studio for the Consider the Source Sun Session!
