Los Lobos, one of the most underrated and hardest working bands in rock, hit one of the birthplaces of rock, Cleveland, for a pair of shows on March 31 and April 1. Guitarist David Hildago is thankfully back in action after missing a stretch of shows after an accident a couple of months back.
Los Lobos welcomed Cleveland native Mike Sopko on guitar for a few songs. The band was also accompanied by Josh Baca on the accordion during the show.
The 25-minute stretch of from Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing” to Grateful Dead’s “Bertha” is jam packed. Hildago and Sopko trade blistering solos on “Little Wing” and then everyone in the band is highlighted on “Mas y Mas” with solos. Jam Buzz has almost 500 jams posted as of April 3, 2017 and it’s safe to say that this is the only jam featuring an accordion solo thanks to Josh Baca. Los Lobos transitions into a cover of the classic Dead tune “Bertha” which at times is raucous and at other times delicate. I love this band.
Thanks to Nick Dominic for the great footage. Check out his channel for more footage from Los Lobos’ two night stand in Cleveland.
