The annual Sunshine Music Festival completed their sixth two-day festival in two different locations—1/13 at Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg and 1/14 at Mizner Park Amphitheater in Boca Raton. Both days had the same lineup including Tedeschi Trucks Band, Mike Gordon, Hot Tuna and Foundations of Funk among other acts. Foundations of Funk has familiar faces with a new band name including George Porter Jr. on bass, Zigaboo Modeliste on drums, Eric Krasno on guitar, and John Medeski on keys.
The Foundations of Funk treated the sunshine state to some classic funk including plenty of Funky Meters. George Porter Jr. and Zigaboo Modeliste led the charge on an excellent “Just Kissed My Baby” into an “Ain’t No Use” that just wouldn’t quit.
Here’s to more Foundations of Funk in 2018!
