Gov’t Mule’s tour turned westward a couple of weeks ago, culminating in a three-set blow out at Red Rocks this Friday. Last week the Mule stopped at the McDonald Theater in Eugene, OR.
Eugene was treated to a classic Mule show with plenty of tasty covers including Tom Petty’s “Breakdown,” ABB’s “Blue Sky” and the Grateful Dead’s “The Other One” among others. One of the more impressive covers of the evening was Jorgen Carlsson and Warren Haynes breaking down the Allman Brothers Band tune “Kind of Bird.” Haynes not only played “Kind of Bird” while he was in the ABB, he co-wrote the song with Dickey Betts.
Danny Louis and the rest of Mule throw in a “Wind Cries Mary” tease at the very end of the jam just for fun.
Thanks to Taper Jeff for the great footage!
