Larry Campbell got the band back together for a recreation of the The Band’s last concert titled The Last Waltz. After disbanding nearly forty years ago, The Band’s influence on the rock of the last 4 decades can still be felt. Larry Campbell’s band The Midnight Ramble Band which was the late Levon Helm’s backing band, served as the house band for the evening as a barrage of guests came to the stage to honor The Band.
The free show in NYC last night at Damrosch Park in Lincoln Center was not to be missed included Bob Weir, Dr. John, Lucinda Williams, Howard Johnson, Anderson East & more.
Bobby has had quite the year. He has assembled one of the finest Dead ensembles post-Jerry for a magnificent summer tour, collaborated with Paul McCartney at Fenway Park marking the first time in history that members of the Beatles and the Grateful Dead shared a stage and is releasing a new album of original music this September with a solo tour to support it. The summer of Bob continues!
Check out Bob Weir join in on the fun for a rocking version of the classic blues number “Farther on Up the Road.”
Thanks to Lazy Lightning for grabbing the footage of the show.
