War’s fourth album All Day Music featured one of their most popular hits, “Slipping Into Darkness.” When War later released the song as a single, the title lost it’s g and became “Slippin’ Into Darkness.” The song was recorded in 1971 and War shortly their after made it a staple of their live shows.
War did a four night run at Chicago’s High Chapparral club back in 1972 and released select songs from the shows as War Live in 1973. Listen to War hit the groove on “Slippin’ Into Darkness” off this album.
Fun fact: “Slippin’ Into Darkness” was the inspiration and heavily influenced Steve Miller’s “Fly Like an Eagle.”
