The incomparable and legendary Eric Clapton made his first 2018 stateside appearance this weekend at the Greenwich Town Party in Greenwich, CT. This is Clapton’s second appearance of the year and there won’t be many more—he only has another five dates on the tour calendar.
Greenwich Town Party, a one-day festival has been rocking Greenwich, CT since 2011 with killer headlining acts like Santana, Buddy Guy, Paul Simon and this year was no exception. Eric Clapton and the Tedeschi Trucks Band were the two headliners of the festival this year.
Clapton’s set was a history lesson with classics from his days in Cream like “White Room” to his later-day classics like “Tears in Heaven.” There was also plenty of blues standards mixed in for good measure.
For the encore, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks joined Clapton for a blazing rendition of “Crossroads.” Scrub to 1:35:25 to see the awesome sit in. The look on Susan’s face during Clapton’s last solo says everything you need to know about how much Derek and Susan appreciate the opportunity to jam with Eric. Judging from Clapton’s reaction, I think he was pretty impressed with Susan as well.
