Gov’t Mule has teamed up with child of the Black Crowes, Magpie Salute for the rest of their August dates. The Mule is also connecting with the Avett Brothers later this week for another run of Dark Side of the Mule sates.

Having passed the day before, the Queen of Soul was on everybody’s mind last Friday, including the Mules. Warren and company invited Magpie Salute’s Rich Robinson, Marc Ford, Matt Slocum and John Hogg out for the encore at the Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre to pay their respects to Aretha Franklin as so many other musicians have in the last week. The Magpie Mule Salute jammed on “Chain of Fools” for 12+ minutes to shut down the show—what an awesome tribute!

Thanks to Vitamin J for the great footage!
