Computer generated music? On Jam Buzz? This is definitely a first, but it’s one of the most jaw-dropping musical accomplishments in recent history.
Over the Bridge, an organization that empowers musicians and to reclaim their lives from their mental health struggles, has commissioned four “new” computer generated songs in the styles of four musical giants that were lost to the world at just 27 years old. Dubbed The Lost Tapes of the 27 Club, the four musicians represented include Jim Morrison, Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain and Jimi Hendrix. If you are expecting some lame, robot computer voice you are way off. If someone had said they unearthed unreleased material by these artists, I would have believed it.
The Jimi Hendrix song, titled “You’re Gonna Kill Me” featured Jimi’s vocals and soaring guitar in a fast-paced rocker that travels the distance in just under three minutes.
While I am conflicted about the using AI to create “new” music from dead musicians, they are still fascinating and fun to listen to.
Thanks again to The Lost Tapes of the 27 Club for the track.
