Dead and Company finally wrapped up their 2017 Fall tour this week in Orlando. After John Mayer’s emergency appendectomy brought the fall tour to an abrupt stop, Dead and Company finished their three southeast dates this past week.
While the whole show (the the final three shows this week) were straight fire, there were definitely some highlights. Mayer took the wheel during “The Wheel” and steered Dead and Company in a new direction. In an unexpected twist, Mayer started teasing Paul Simon’s “You Can Call Me Al” and the rest of the Dead & Company jumped on board while Weir stayed the course and continued playing “The Wheel.”
Second set highlights include “Althea,” “China Cat > I Know You Rider” and “Estimated Prophet.” What a great way to end the 2017 Fall tour, as Mayer quipped during the show.
