Spafford is a newer band in the jam scene. Although they have been together since 2009, they have really started to bust out in the last year. Spafford doesn’t list much information about themselves on their website. Actually, they’re about page simply says “We jam” and at the end of the day, isn’t that really all that matters?
The Arizona based jam band describes themselves as “Electro Funk Therapy” and includes Jordan Fairless on bass, Red Johnson on keys, Brian Moss on guitar, and Cameron Laforest on drums. All four members lend their vocals as well.
At Higher Ground in Burlington, VT, Spafford played a 10 song set with 6 of them clocking in at 10 minutes or more. Yes, this band likes to jam.
For the encore, Spafford came out and treated Burlington to three Tom Petty classics including “Learning to Fly,” “Breakdown” and “You Don’t Know How It Feels.” Brian Moss shreds on all the tracks and takes these classic rock tunes into the jam realm.
