Watch My Morning Jacket Crush “One Big Holiday” At Bonnaroo 2004

My Morning Jacket is set to release one of their most legendary sets in it’s upcoming archival release series—Bonnaroo 2004.

MMJ took the stage on a hot and steamy Tennessee afternoon as the storm clouds started to gather. MMJ equaled the later afternoon storm in intensity as both collided later in the set. Before the clouds burst open, MMJ crushed one of their now classics “One Big Holiday.”

MMJ is set to release the festival set in June on Vinyl and streaming services.

Thanks to Bonnaroo Music Festival for the footage!

Watch My Morning Jacket Close Out NYC Show with “One Big Holiday” in 2019

With most major shows being canceled or postponed due to the Omicron surge, a lot of YouTubers are sharing archival footage from pre-COVID. Our friend Lazy Lightning has shared some footage from My Morning Jackets tour stop at Forest Hills Stadium in NYC back in the summer of 2019.

To close out the show, MMJ played fan favorite and Mexico excursion name-sake “One Big Holiday.” Speaking of One Big Holiday, the long weekend event is slated to happen in Mexico in the first week of March. Dead and Company and other bands have all dropped out of their winter excursion gigs. Fingers-crossed that MMJ will be able to safely hold their event in March.

Thanks again to Lazy Lightning for the footage!

Listen to My Morning Jacket Honor Gregg Allman at the Peach Festival – 8/11/2017 Full Show AUD

My Morning Jacket had a bust-out show at Lockn’ Festival last year—in fact it was the 2016 JamBuzzers show of the year. My Morning Jacket has been pumping out amazing music for years, but last year was the jam band scene’s first real taste of what MMJ has to offer.

On tour and on the festival circuit again this summer, My Morning Jacket was the headliner for Friday night at the Peach Festival. The Peach Festival is in it’s 6th year and was billed back in 2012 as the first ever “Allman Brothers inspired festival.” Jim James and My Morning Jacket didn’t miss the opportunity to pay homage to our recently fallen brothers, Butch Trucks and Gregg Allman.

Tucked into the middle of their 17-song set was a pair of covers—the first of Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ in the Wind” and the second of the Allman Brothers’ tune “Melissa.” The classic ABB tune was one of the first tunes Gregg wrote, although it wasn’t released until their seminole 1972 album Eat a Peach. Jim James and MMJ’s brand of rock was a perfect vehicle for “Melissa.” All in all, a perfect tribute.

Watch Metallica’s Kirk Hammett Sit-in with My Morning Jacket for a Ferocious “One Big Holiday” at Bonnaroo 2008

My Morning Jacket and Metallica shared the bill a couple of weekends ago at The Bridge School Benefit. Fans who were hoping for a MMJ/Metallica collaboration may have been let down, but after a bit of digging, I found that this isn’t the first time MMJ and legendary metal rockers Metallica have shared the same bill.

2008 was a banner year for Bonnaroo. Headliners included Pearl Jam, Widespread Panic, Robert Plant, Phil Lesh and Friends and B.B. King among hundreds of other artists. And yes, Metallica and My Morning Jacket also were headlining.

As bands do at Bonnaroo, MMJ and Metallica hooked up. Jim James welcomed Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett out for the My Morning Jacket fan-favorite “One Big Holiday” at the end of the first set on Friday night. The collaboration did not disappoint. Kirk’s heavy metal guitar shredding was the perfect compliment to the hard rocking MMJ tune.

Those fans who endured the pouring rain at the Which stage not only saw this epic collaboration but also one hell of a show. Check out a recording of the full show on archive.org.

Thanks to the Bonnaroo official YouTube channel we have pro-footage of this historic sit-in. Enjoy!
