The Grateful Dead are back with another installment of All the Years Live on their YouTube channel. The latest footage comes from their historic voyage to Egypt in 1978.
Two of the songs they performed during their run in Giza was “Ollin Arageed” and “Fire On The Mountain.” Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux notes the historical significance of this performance—”One of the most magical events in the Grateful Dead’s entire 30 year trip was their Egypt voyage, and this video captures one of the many special moments that happened when the Dead visited Egypt. Hamza El Din and his choir performed Ollin Arageed with the Dead accompanying, and the seamless transition into Fire On The Mountain is one of the coolest musical juxtapositions in the Grateful Dead’s history. Perfection personified.”
Thanks to the Grateful Dead for the incredible footage!
